Dr. Krista Kelly is an Assistant Professor in the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. She completed her BA in Psychology at the University of New Brunswick and her MA and PhD in Psychology at York University’s Centre for Vision Research. Following a postdoctoral fellowship, she directed the Vision and Neurodevelopment Lab at the Retina Foundation of the Southwest in Texas. Her research focuses on how early atypical visual experiences, such as visual deprivation, affect brain development. She currently investigates the causes of slow reading and motor impairments in children with pediatric eye conditions, including amblyopia, strabismus, and cataract, with the goal of improving screening and intervention strategies.
